Misfits on a Mission, Finding Identity in Jesus

Those Who Dream – Advent

Psalm 126 begins “When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream.” This is an expression of great joy and hope. In it we can place ourselves, at the intersection of the harsh realities of this world and the joyous future God is bringing about. As Kingdom people, we live in that tension, and Advent is all about that tension.

Next Sunday, we enter into the powerful season of Advent. Advent is a season of the Christian calendar that provides us with space to explore some of the deep wells of the Jesus Way like hope, joy, peace, and love. It also gives us space to honor the emotions we feel like longing, disappointment, even anger. Advent is both a season for joyful expectations and sorrowful lament.

Those Who Dream” also has resources to help you press into this season. There is an Advent devotional, poetry and prayers, and an at-home liturgical practice for the First Sunday After Christmas.

Pastors T. C. and Osheta are excited to see all the many ways these resources will aid us in making meaning of our lives by entering into this holy season and being formed by the story of Jesus more and more into the image of Jesus.
