Kids and Youth Ministry
Kids in elementary and middle school are invited to participate in worship for the first 15 minutes or so. After the reading of Scripture, the congregation will bless the children and they will be dismissed to the kids ministry room with two adult leaders.
Elementary age kids will learn Bible stories using the Holy Moly! curriculum from sparkhouse. They will experience the Bible in imaginative, kid-friendly ways through fun videos, Bible verses, crafts, and discussion.
Middle school kids will meet in their own group to study the Bible or do a book study together. Currently this group is reading through Grit and Grace: Heroic Women of the Bible by Caryn Rivadeneira. Every other week, middle schoolers will serve as volunteer leaders to help the elementary kids with their crafts.
About fifteen minutes before the end of the gathering–just after the pastor wraps up his or her message–kids rejoin the adults to participate in the rest of the worship gathering. We hope kids at Roots will form deep relationships with one another, with the adults at Roots, and with Jesus.
If your child prefers to stay for the message in the worship gathering with the adults, they are welcome!
Babies and Toddlers are invited to stay with parents during the worship gathering and can play on the rugs in the back or sit with their parents. Busy bags are available with books, coloring books, and other activities to keep little ones occupied. The nursery room is currently not staffed, but parents and guardians are welcome to bring their babies and toddlers there during the worship gathering if needed. Parents must supervise their own children. There is a changing station in the nursery and in the men’s and women’s bathrooms. You are also welcome to feed your baby in the nursery, the worship space, or anywhere you feel comfortable. We hope babies and toddlers at Roots will feel God’s great love for them as they are nurtured and loved by the Roots community.
